Beyoncé just released her album ‘Cowboy Carter’ which holds the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 ,
marking the biggest album sales so far in 2024.
Cowboy Carter, released on March 29, sold 407,000 copies,
becoming the highest-performing song since Taylor Swift ‘s 1989 ( Taylor’s Version ) ,
which sold 1.653 million copies when it was released in November 2023.

Cowboy Carter achieved Beyoncé’s biggest sales since 2016’s Lemonade (653,000 copies). The singer became the first black woman to ever release an album that debuted at No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart. This is the best-selling week for a country album since last July, when Taylor Swift’s Speak Now topped the list with 716,000 copies.
Of the 407,000 copies, 232,000 were streams, while 168,000 were traditional album sales. The limited edition vinyl four-disc set sold 62,000 copies, giving Beyoncé her biggest sales week on the format.
In addition, with the No. 1 position on the Billboard 200, Beyoncé surpassed Janet Jackson to claim the fourth number-one position among female artists to achieve this title. Before her were Madonna (with 9 times), Barbra Streisand (11 times) and Taylor Swift (12 times).
Meanwhile , Future and Metro Boomin’s We Don’t Trust You slipped from the top spot on the Billboard 200 to number 2 with 131,000 album units. Morgan Wallen followed in 3rd place with the album One Thing at a Time , Ariana Grande’s Eternal Sunshine dropped from 3rd to 4th place. Keeping the top 5 position is J-Hope, with the album Hope on the Streets, Vol .1 (50,000 copies sold).
