Jay-Z was honored with the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award during last night’s Grammys, and celebrated by casually turning his award into a Cognac glass to drink out of. I mean, might as well put the thing to use, right?

Jay-Z drinks out of his Grammy after calling out the Recording Academy for never awarding Beyoncé Album of the Year

Jay-Z gave a lengthy speech while accepting his award (with Blue Ivy by his side!), and called the Recording Academy out for never giving Beyoncé Album of the Year while he was at it.

“I’m just saying: We want [the Grammys] to get it right,” he said. “We love y’all, we love y’all, we want y’all to get it right. At least get it close to right.

And obviously it’s subjective. Obviously it’s subjective because, you know, it’s music and it’s opinion-based. But some things, you know.”

Jay-Z then referenced Beyoncé and continued by musing, “I don’t want to embarrass this young lady [Beyoncé], but she has more Grammys than everyone and never won Album of the Year.

So even by your own metrics, that doesn’t work. Think about that: the most Grammys, never won Album of the Year. That doesn’t work.”
