JAY-Z is credited with LeBron James’ great performance

that helped the Lakers overcome a 21-point fourth-quarter deficit in their last game.

On Wednesday, February 28, Hov was courtside as the Lakers defeated their crosstown rivals the Clippers 116-112. The Lakers scored 39 points in the fourth quarter, with LeBron scoring 19.

According to social media, Jay’s mid-game chat inspired them.

JAY-Z has long been a favorite of LeBron James, who cited him last year in a puzzling post that seemed to hint at a retirement.

King James posted a flashback photo of himself at the free throw line or taking a break at St. Vincent–St. Mary High School on Instagram Stories in May. He pieced lyrics from Hova’s 2003 contemplative ballad, “What More Can I Sаy,” off The Black Album.

“I’m supposed to be number one on everybody list, We’ll see what happens when I no longer exist,” JAY-Z raps over the sample-heavy track LeBron wants to be number one because of his decade-long rivalry with Michael Jordan for the best player of all time.

After retiring at the top of the rap game with The Black Album in 2003, JAY-Z returned with Kingdom Come in 2006.

Of course, LeBron James has used bars from his friend and trusted confidant to communicate subliminal messages before.

LeBron shared lyrics from JAY-Z’s 2006 comeback album Kingdom Come’s song “Trouble” a month earlier after his Lakers eliminated the Memphis Grizzlies from the NBA Playoffs.
